Description

Fall in love with this irresistible Marry Me Chicken recipe, featuring tender chicken breasts smothered in a rich, creamy sauce with sun-dried tomatoes and Parmesan cheese. This dish combines the best elements of popular recipes to create an unforgettable dining experience that might just inspire a proposal!

  • Large skillet or cast-iron pan
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Tongs
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Meat thermometer

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 6 oz each)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/3 cup sun-dried tomatoes, julienned
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a touch of heat)
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken breasts and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side until golden brown and nearly cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
  3. In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the minced garlic. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth, scraping the bottom of the skillet to release any browned bits (this is where the flavor is!).
  5. Add the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes (if using) to the skillet. Stir to combine and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  6. Let the sauce simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it starts to thicken slightly.
  7. Return the chicken breasts to the skillet, nestling them into the sauce. Spoon some of the sauce over the chicken and let everything simmer together for another 5-7 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked through and the sauce has thickened to your liking.
  8. Remove the skillet from the heat and garnish with fresh basil leaves. Serve immediately, spooning extra sauce over the chicken.

Notes

  • For best results, use a large, heavy-bottomed skillet or cast-iron pan.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can simmer it for a few extra minutes before adding the chicken back to the skillet.
  • To ensure food safety, use a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave.
  • For a lighter version, you can substitute half-and-half for the heavy cream, though the sauce won’t be as rich.
  • Serve with pasta, mashed potatoes, or crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.
